Faculty Achievements

Dr. Rolf Wigand’s most recent publication was “20 Years of Research in Electronic Markets and Networked Business” published in Electronic Markets in March. Additionally, Wigand, along with co-authors, will present a paper, “Information Management and Authentication of Drugs in Supply Chains within the Pharmaceutical Industry,” at the 8th International Conference on Information Technology: New Generations in Las Vegas April 12.

Dr. Clay Posey recently published a report on information security with the IBM Center for the Business of Government and colleagues at Louisiana Tech University. This report was disseminated to thousands of employees at federal, state, and local levels throughout the U.S.

Dr. Stephanie Farewell had a paper accepted for presentation at the highly competitive and selective national meeting of the American Accounting Association. This is the seventh consecutive year that her submissions have been accepted. Dr. Gaurav Kumar and his two graduate students, Puja Paul and Pradeep Sapkota, also had a paper accepted for presentation at the national meeting.

The National Association of Health Underwriters asked Dr. Lars Powell to measure the value of health insurance agents in preparation for their negotiations with the White House on healthcare reform. As part of the project, the Arkansas Insurance Department supplied data that would have cost UALR approximately $15,000.

Dr. Rolf Wigand’s article, “Software as a Service (Saas) and Service Quality: Are Customer Expectations Fulfilled?” with co-authors Aleander Berlian and Thomas Hess from the University of Munich was published in Business Informatics & Management.

Dr. Cynthia Daily co-authored an article, “Auditors’ Levels of Dispositional Need for Closure and Effects on Hypothesis Generation and Confidence,” that was accepted for publication in Behavior Research in Accounting (BRIA), an American Accounting Association Journal.

An article written by Roger Dorsey is being published in the Journal of Accounting, Ethics, and Public Policy. It was edited by Dr. Robert W McGee, professor of accounting at Florida International University. The article also will appear in the 2011 edition of McGee’s book, “The Ethics of Tax Evasion.”

Dr. James Parrish and Dr. Robert Mitchell’s manuscript, “The Effect of Technology Choice on Message Form,” has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Research in Business Information Systems. It was written with Microsoft’s Dr. Bradley Jensen.
