For those looking to become a teacher in grades pre-school through 12, the Department of Teacher Education provides the type of instruction and field experience to prepare you for the classroom. There are six areas of concentration in teacher education.
If you plan to become a public school or district leader, college educator or administrator, learning technology provider, or a director of a gifted and talented program, you will find the professional tools you need to succeed here. There are five masters-level degree areas, as well as an educational specialist degree and doctorate of education degree.
The mission of the CARE department is to prepare students for work in education or human service fields. There are two undergraduate degrees and four graduate degrees within this department.

Secondary Education prepares candidates to teach content specific areas in grades 7 – 12.Â Students interested in teaching in secondary education in Arkansas must be licensed by the state in a particular subject area. UALR programs in secondary teacher education are designed to prepare students for licensure.
