UALR, excellence is a priority. We have many “faces of excellence” among our faculty, staff and students/candidates. Our research is focused not only on pure study but also on the issues and problems which must be addressed in our community, the state and the nation. Faculty and student service are hallmarks of the College of Education and UALR. We are “Leaders in Learning”. Whether studying national daycare problems, equity in educational opportunity for all students, changes in school law and finance, or early childhood education, we are dedicated to the highest quality educational opportunity for our students at the undergraduate, masters, educational specialist and doctoral levels. It is our conviction that everyone who aspires to become a teacher, counselor, educational administrator, interpreter or rehabilitation specialist must be well versed in theory and understand the exigencies of practice. Each must be able to conduct good action research within his or her chosen field. We care about both theory and practice.
UALR is located in the capital city of the state of Arkansas. We train educators and other professionals for all settings but place particular emphasis on the work of educators within the metropolitan urban area. In partnership with surrounding school districts and the Arkansas Leadership Academy, we strive constantly to meet the needs of our clients, be they undergraduates or degreed educators seeking advanced degrees, in order to better enable them to meet the needs of their clients, our children and our future.
