The mission of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock College of Education is to promote and strengthen the professional development of individuals concerned with education and human resource development in a variety of settings such as schools, colleges and universities, private and corporate organizations, and government agencies. We strive to develop professionals who use state of the art methodologies and technologies.

The conceptual frameworks are: "Leaders in Learning demonstrate Communication, Specialized Expertise, and Professional Development in competency, disposition and behavior."

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock College of Education is fully accredited by National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and has maintained that accreditation since 1971.

STAR Applications Now being Accepted Applications for the State Teacher Assistance Resource (STAR) Program are currently available at http://www.starark.com. STAR applications will be accepted through June 1. This loan forgiveness program targets students that are willing to teach in a subject shortage AND/OR a geographic area of the state. Eligible students may receive up to $6,000 per year, if they agree to do both.

Minority Teacher Scholars Program (MTSP) (Applications due June 1st.) MTSP provides forgivable loans to undergraduate minority students seeking an initial teacher license. Recipients may receive MTSP for a maximum of four (4) semesters or six (6) trimesters or until requirements for licensure are completed. Recipients may receive $5,000 per academic year and must teach in an Arkansas public school for five (5) years after completing teacher license requirements. The teaching requirement will be reduced to three (3) years for designated subject and/or geographic shortage areas. Go to http://www.arscholarships.com to learn more.
