Commencement- More Social Than Ever

We have exciting things in the works for Fall 2011 Commencement. Twitter, Facebook, Ustream, Flickr. We’re doing it big!

Last year, we streamed the spring ceremony live over the internet for the first time with great response and international viewership. This year, we’re adding audience participation to the mix, encouraging our graduates and guests to live tweet with us using the #UALRgrad hashtag and share their photos from the event by sending them to pics@ualr.edu.

A new web page has been designed that aggregates all of these tools, including Facebook commenting, into one location to display all of the different ways that the live audience can interact with us and the audience online.

With more people using smartphone technology, we fully expect a crowdsourced commencement like never before!

Do you Tumble on Tumblr?

Have you heard of Tumblr? It’s a short-form blogging platform that makes it easy to embed videos and images using a simple interface. We’ve recently begun employing Tumblr to showcase media appearances by some of our faculty experts. It gives us the opportunity to curate the UALR presence beyond our own web channels, whether it’s a television station, a newspaper, or even a local blog.

Visual Identity Guidelines Now Available

Every organization and institution presents a unique and defining image, lasting impressions that are not quickly created or easily altered. It takes consistency visually to create and communicate a positive, unifying image. This is the goal of UALR’s graphic identity standards.
