Judy Williams

Director of Communications

Alumnus Judy Williams got the chance to return to UALR as director of communications in January 2007. Since receiving a bachelor’s degree in journalism, she has enjoyed a variety of professional experiences in Central Arkansas. Her career has taken her from the nonprofit sector as community relations director at Arkansas Enterprises for the Blind and marketing director at the Aerospace Education Center to the private and public sector. She was public relations/marketing director at HCA Doctors Hospital, senior PR account executive at Stone Ward advertising agency, and media relations director at Hendrix College. Williams’ career began in the 1970s as a reporter and editor at newspapers in Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois and Arkansas. For relaxation, she hunts for antiques, reads, and hangs out with family, friends, and her two cocker spaniels, Amos and Andy.

Klansee J. Bell

Graphic Designer

Klansee J. Bell began her work as a graphic designer with UALR in March 2007. She is a BFA graduate of the University of Central Arkansas with an emphasis in graphic design. Bell loves to make things “pretty” - helping out with many print projects that come through the communications office. After design work with both Stone Ward and the Arkansas Business Publishing Group, Bell worked for Dillard’s corporate office and as a freelance designer. She says she is “the New Kids on the Block’s biggest fan” and loves to garden, walk her two dogs, scrapbook, and practice her photography. Bell also loves to spend time with the cutest, smartest 4-year-old in the world - her nephew - and her 10-month-old niece.

Drew Stephens

Web Designer

Drew still takes pride in the fact that he didn’t know what a “provost” was until his second month on the job.  Hired in June 2006, Drew’s official job title was “Web Design and Services Manager”, a title he thought to be a bit misleading as there would never be a management bone in his body.   Call him what you will -  a “web designer” , “interaction/information designer” or “web guy” - at the end of the day Drew works to improve the online experience at ualr.edu.

He values the ongoing education provided him by the journalists and public relations professionals in his department, and is working to use those learning experiences as some sort of springboard - to expand his skillset beyond pixel-pushing and code-hacking to include visual journalism and multimedia storytelling.
