She has worked in media– television and print– for the last 12 years. Regardless of her workplace title, she has always been a technical communicator, document designer, usability theorist, and general web geek. In a previous life, she managed the web operations of two local television stations and led the team to develop their first multi-platform approach to news dissemination.
Shari has taught as an adjunct instructor in the Rhetoric and Writing department since 2004. Although an avid technology enthusiast, she occasionally unplugs by taking the ski boat out to Lake Ouachita and enjoys climbing the hills in her Jeep Wrangler.

Drew Stephens, Web Designer
Drew still takes pride in the fact that he didnât know what a âprovostâ was until his second month on the job. Hired in June 2006, Drew’s official job title was âWeb Design and Services Manager,â a title he thought to be a bit misleading as there would never be a management bone in his body. Drew specializes in visual design & interaction design â two fancy terms he uses to make himself sound important and to explain that he cares about both how things look and how things work. Call him what you will, at the end of the day Drew works to improve the online experience at ualr.edu.
He values the ongoing education provided him by the journalists and public relations professionals in his department, and is working to use those learning experiences as some sort of springboard – to expand his skillset beyond pixel-pushing and code-hacking to include visual journalism and multimedia storytelling.

After design work with both Stone Ward and the Arkansas Business Publishing Group, Tozer worked for Dillardâs corporate office and as a freelance designer. In her spare time, she loves to be outdoors, scrapbooking and hanging out with her family.

She performs an array of duties, from assisting the web team with video editing to writing hometown releases and blog posts.
