Learning is not limited to the classroom. Community settings give students the opportunity to develop valuable skills that enhance their professional and personal lives. Academic experiences that integrate service into the curriculum also increase civic engagement by students while in college and after.
Service Learning is an component of many courses at UALR including the First Year Colloquium courses designed to help first-year students transition into the college. As of Fall 2011, the First Year Colloquium is a graduation requirement for all entering, first-time, full-time freshman students at UALR.
