Setting Up Outlook 2000, XP and 2003
- Double-click on the Microsoft Outlook icon from the desktop
- Select the 'Tools' menu from the menu bar
- Select 'E-mail Accounts' from the 'Tools' menu
- A dialog box appears. Select 'Add a new e-mail account' and click 'Next'
- Select the radio button for 'IMAP' and click 'Next'
- Enter the following information in the appropriate location:
- Your name: enter your full name as you would like it to appear on messages you send
- E-mail address: enter your full e-mail address - username@ualr.edu
- Incoming mail server (IMAP): imap.ualr.edu
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.ualr.edu
- User Name: your UALR email username
- Password: if you use a computer in a shared or public environment, you may wish to leave this blank and Outlook will prompt you for a password when checking mail - otherwise, enter your e-mail password
- Click the 'More Settings...' button
- You can set 'Reply E-mail' to some other email address if you wish - this will cause any replies to messages you send to go to the specified email address
- Click the 'Outgoing Server' tab
- Place a checkmark in the box for 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' and make sure 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server' is selected
- Click 'OK'
- Click "Next"
- Click "Finish"
Mail will be delivered to the Inbox located under imap.ualr.edu. To find this folder, you may have to select Folder List from the View menu.
