Dial-up Access
Just the FAQs.
The campus dial-in server is a Cisco 5350 High-performance wide area
network switch. It provides:
- SLIP/PPP connectivity for faculty and staff (Internet access via dial-up).
- Telnet and rlogin access to both on and off-campus systems.
- Analog (modem) connectivity at speeds up to 57.6Kbps.
- Digital connectivity via ISDN dial-in.
- Up to 92 concurrent sessions
- All lines accessible using the same phone number (+1 501 515 6150).
The current policy is to allow PPP, SLIP, Telnet and rlogin
to all UALR faculty and staff. Student access is limited to
Telnet and rlogin.
Dial-in security is provided via a RADIUS server from the UALR mail system.
All faculty, staff, and students at UALR have accounts on mail.ualr.edu.
