Notes page 4

Accessible: Pages are written so that someone using a screen reader can make sense of the content. Images are described, not left to screen readers as IMAGE. Multiple column text tables have Text Only versions.

Informative: Your pages should provide useful, timely information organized in a sensible manner.

Aesthetically Pleasing: Page colors are calm, not too bright or gaudy, text is readable (i.e. no wild colors or strange fonts, sized large enough to see) and has a contrast to the background. Images have a purpose, and complement the page. When images are introduced the text flows around them, and has a relationship to the image displayed. A picture of your dog in the middle of your resume' is bad form.

Searchable: You use meta tags for description, and key words.

Easily Navigable: Users can move between pages using links on the pages that lead from one page to the next. Trying to find information does not take all day.

Browser Compatible: Netscape and Internet Explorer handle some tags differently. IE does not recognize “blink” Netscape does. Netscape may not load a page written in MS Word correctly.
