Monday August 26th
Dickinson Hall Room #600
The Mathematics Assistance Center (MAC) has undergone some major changes for this semester. Please stop by anytime to visit and tour the new facility. It is now a one place stop for students needing mathematics help.
There is no longer a MAC 2. We have a centralized space MAC which is new, improved and larger!
MAC (Mathematics Assistance Center) is located in Dickinson Hall rm 600 and we cater to College Algebra students and above and PreCore mathematics (ALEKS). We also tutor Physics and Statistics.
MAC has expanded into 2 rooms both with computers with one director, Denise LeGrand. The entrance to both rooms is located in room 600 DKSN. All students must sign in at the front desk in the main room. This room is where the tutoring will take place (so it may be kind of noisy with mathematics chatter!). To enter the quiet side, all students will sign in room 600, walk thru the lounge area to work on ALEKS or any other math in a quiet area. We now have a comfortable lounge with a whiteboard, refrigerator and microwave where students and faculty can gather and discuss math!
These rooms are wonderful resources at no extra charge and no appointment needed!
Our use has continually increased from semester to semester! MAC has an attendance tracking software package which keeps track of visits and usage so generating reports is now much simplified. If you need to track student attendance or any visits, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Shortly students will be preparing for their first mathematics test, the question that is usually asked is “What can I do in order to get a better grade?” Well, the answer is “Visit the UALR MAC (Mathematics Assistance Center) located in Dickinson Hall on the sixth floor, room 600. This is an excellent place for students to study and do their homework.
NO APPOINTMENT IS NECESSARY!!!
WE ALSO HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS WHERE QUESTIONS CAN BE ANSWERED THROUGH EMAIL: email@example.com
HOURS for MAC:
Ask for a free tour or just stop by and we will show you everything that is available. All of the computers in both areas have the ALEKS software and we have some computers with MAPLE, SAS and CourseCompass. This semester we have our own graduate students and students working as tutors.
TI-84 calculators may be rented for the session or semester from the MAC for $40. Students may check out a FREE “How to use the TI 82, 83 Graphing Calculator” videotape. Also “How to Use your TI 82 & 83 Calculator” is now on sale in the UALR bookstore.
