Student Achievements

The UALR Student Research and Creative Works Expo was held April 16, 2012. Six PhD students in criminal justice entered the competition. Of those, four students received 1st and 2nd place awards. In the Professional Studies category, Alesa Liles won 1st place for her poster titled “Policy implications of Graham v. Florida in the State of Arkansas.” She was mentored by Dr. Stacy Moak. 2nd place in the Professional Studies category went to Kyle Burgason. His poster was titled “Nature of Violence: Examination of the Predictors of Gun Use and Level of Victim Injury in Aggravated Assaults and Robberies.” He was mentored by Dr. Shaun Thomas. In the category of Social Sciences, Gavin Lee won 1st place. His poster was titled “An Examination of the Correlates of Prison Misconduct within the Arkansas Prison System.” In that same category, Thomas Zawisza placed 2nd. His poster was titled “Donnybrook in Downtown: Mixed Method Analysis of Aggression Outside of the Barroom.” Congratulations to all of our winners and all of those who participated this year.
