UALR Women’s Basketball Headed to Wichita, Kan. to face Wisconsin-Green Bay in the Opening Round of the NCAA Tournament.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—The UALR women’s basketball team received the No. 12 seed for the 2011 NCAA Tournament and will face Green Bay (32-1) the No. 5 seed at the INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, Kan. on Sunday, March 20 at 4:20 p.m. C.S.T. on ESPN 2. Other teams in the regional include No. 4 seed Michigan State (26-5) and No. 13 seed Northern Iowa (27-5).
This is the second-straight NCAA appearance for the Trojans who last season defeated higher-seeded Georgia Tech 63-53 in Norman, Okla. UALR lost in the second round to Final Four team Oklahoma 60-44.
UALR won the team’s first-ever Sun Belt Conference Tournament title with a 66-59 victory over WKU to earn the automatic berth this season.
The winner of each first round game will play on Tuesday, March 22 at 8:30 p.m. C.S.T. The winner of that match-up will advance to the Sweet Sixteen in Dallas, Texas.
