As a teenager, Lindsey Stroud aspired to be Physical Therapist. She planned to attend the University of Central Arkansas and obtain a degree in physical therapy, after high school. However, after careful consideration, Lindsey decided to apply to UA Little Rock. It was much closer to home (Jacksonville, Arkansas) and provided her the full college experience.
In the Fall of 2009, Lindsey began pursuing a biology degree at UA Little Rock. On campus, she was exposed to a variety of fields outside of physical therapy that interested her. As a result, Lindsey switched majors a few times, trying her hand at Nursing and Mass Communication. However, it was the department of Rhetoric and writing that ultimately won Lindsey over.
“Dr. Toran Isom is one of the major reason I choose rhetoric and writing. She was so caring.” Lindsey explained. “The professors in the RHET department are amazing. They will stop everything to help you with your problem. They are fantastic.”
Lindsey graduated from UA Little Rock in summer 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Professional and Technical Writing.
Lindsey’s most memorable experience at UA Little Rock was a conversation between her and Dr. Kuralt. Lindsey was nervous and concerned that she was not smart enough to attend grad school. Dr. Kuralt assured her that the professors would do their best to assure Lindsey’s success.
And succeed is exactly what she did.
Lindsey is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Professional and Technical Writing. She is on track to graduate this December. Lindsey is also the assistant to our interim dean, Dr. Julien Mirivel.
Keeping Striving for excellence Lindsey!
