Brandy Britton Selected to Receive First Thomas R. Wolanin Congressional Internship

The first recipient of the Thomas R. Wolanin Congressional Internship is Brandy Britton from Little Rock, AR. Britton, a TRIO Talent Search alumna completed her BA in political science at Hendrix College in Arkansas. She is currently pursuing her master’s in public administration at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock as well as a graduate certificate in nonprofit management. Both graduate programs are located in the School of Public Affairs.  Britton also works full time as an outreach specialist for the Community Health Centers of Arkansas, building partnerships, analyzing health policy, and providing technical assistance and training.

The Thomas R. Wolanin Congressional Internship is designed to provide individuals who are the first generation of their families to graduate from college with an opportunity to observe the federal policy-making process first-hand and to participate in that process.  Thomas R. Wolanin served for nearly two decades as a staff member in the U.S. Congress where he worked tirelessly to expand student financial assistance and TRIO services.
