The projectís goal is to develop a Wearable Robotic Object Manipulation Aid (W-ROMA) that can help a visually impaired individual locate a target object and manipulate the object as needed. The hand-worn assistive device uses an RGB-D camera to detect the target object and determines hand-object misalignment. It then conveys to the user the needed hand movement by using an intuitive human-device interface for object alignment and effective grasping. The device can ease an object manipulation task by guiding the personís hand towards a target object. This is a collaborative research project with Dr. Yantao Shen at University of Nevada Reno.
