Jazz and Juleps to Honor Loris Mayersohn Fullerton in May

May is Better Hearing and Speech Month and what better time to conduct the 4th Annual Jazz and Juleps fundraiser benefitting the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology at UALR. This year’s evening event will be held Tuesday, May 21 at the Arkansas Governors Mansion at 1800 Center Street in Little Rock featuring live music, Hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and live auction conducted by KTHV televisions Craig O’Neill.

Proceeds from Jazz and Juleps will benefit the Loris Mayersohn Fullerton Student Scholarship Fund. Mrs. Fullerton is an enthusiastic supporter of UALR and has worked tirelessly to raise $250,000 for student scholarships. Department Chairman Dr. Tom Guyette said of Fullerton “very few people have had the kind of impact on the lives of our students than Loris”. Fullerton helped organize the first Jazz and Juleps in 2010.

Vice Chancellor for Development Bob Denman stated “honoring Loris with a new named scholarship fund is in no way a large enough thank you for all she has done”. Chancellor Joel Anderson added “the friendship between the Mayersohn family and UALR dates back to the 1960’s. Loris continues a tradition of support providing excellent educational opportunities for our students”.

The Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology is a joint program between UALR and UAMS.
