Anonymous Donor Assists Trojan Swimming & Diving

Swimming poolLITTLE ROCK – An anonymous donor has established a $250,000 endowment to benefit the UALR swimming and diving team. The new donor-advised fund will provide additional scholarship support for student-athletes and provide operational support for the Trojan swimming & diving program.

UALR head coach Amy Burgess said the gift is a game changer for the program.  “A gift of this magnitude can change the face of our program by providing scholarship support equal to our peer conference competition,” she said.  The UALR swimmers compete in the highly competitive Missouri Valley Conference.”

Director of Athletics Chasse Conque expressed his gratitude for the generous gift. “This endowment will reduce the financial stress on our student athletes, allowing them to pursue their passion in the pool,” he said.  “The swimming and diving program is Little Rock’s very own Division I athletic program, and exemplary giving like this helps create a point of pride for central Arkansas.”

Trojan Athletics Director of Development Sheena Howell plans to use this gift as a springboard for a matching gift initiative. “This is a perfect time to encourage other giving to our program from alumni, former student athletes, and friends of swimming statewide,” she said.
