Art-show-2016-300x200Looking for a unique holiday gift made by a local artist? Look no further than the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Friends of the Arts 6×6 Holiday Art Sale Preview and Reception Dec. 1 and the Holiday Art Sale Dec. 2.

The Holiday Art Sale gives student artists a chance to learn about the fast-paced world of buying and selling art and what it takes to earn a living as an artist.

All proceeds will be used for scholarships and student support initiatives in the UALR departments of art and design, music, and theatre arts and dance.

The two-day event will begin with a reception and art sale preview from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at the UALR Applied Design Studio, University Plaza Suite 300. Reception tickets are $45 for general admission, $25 for UALR employees, and $15 for UALR students.

Patrons who attend the art reception will not only have the first chance to purchase an array of unique and beautiful items from the UALR Department of Art and Design Holiday Art Sale ahead of the general public, but they will also be able to bid on exclusive art pieces that will only be found in the reception’s silent auction.

During the reception, guests will enjoy wine, locally brewed beer, and heavy hors d’oeuvres in the unique atmosphere of the UALR Applied Design Studios with live artist demonstrations and entertainment.

On Friday, Dec. 2, the Holiday Art Sale, featuring original art created by UALR students, faculty, and alumni, will open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the UALR Applied Design Studio. This sale, which is free to attend, is a great opportunity to buy handmade holiday gifts from local artists while also supporting UALR students.
