Greetings from the Disability Resource Center! All of us hope you are having a successful beginning to your Spring semester. Here is some information that might make your job a little easier, with some sad news at the end.
To get information about accessibility resources at UALR, go to the Accessibility website. There you will learn about such topics as:
- assistive technology
- event accessibility
- reporting barriers
- video phones
- web accessibility
The Barrier Report Form is an especially helpful site for anyone to use to report issues with accessibility, which are then routed to the appropriate university personnel. This system is in place so we can all take an active role in increasing accessibility at UALR!
Don’t forget to come hang out in our Faculty Lounge, where we have provided accommodation-specific information, our DRC faculty handbook, and links to helpful information.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the departure of Melanie Thornton from our staff. Melanie has been with us since 2000. For most of that time she served as Director for Project PACE, a ground-breaking federally-funded project that provided faculty training on such critical issues as reframing disability and Universal Design. She has most recently served as Associate Director for the DRC, and has worked with many students and faculty who will no doubt miss her presence as much as the department will. She has accepted a position as Leadership Development Facilitator with University of Arkansas CURRENTS. We wish her well on her journey.
Again, please contact the Disability Resource Center any time. We always look forward to working with our faculty partners!
