2014 1L SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The American Bar Association’s (ABA) Commission on Disability Rights is pleased to partner with Prudential Financial, Inc. (Prudential) to provide a meaningful summer internship opportunity to a highly motivated first-year law student with a disability.
Through this partnership, the Commission will select a law student with a disability to join Prudential’s 2014 summer law intern class in the New Jersey tri-state area. The internship runs between June 2 and August 8, 2014. The intern will be paid a stipend of approximately $10,000, which shall accrue and be paid on an hourly basis.
The intern will have the opportunity to work with attorneys who support the broad reach of the Prudential businesses. He or she may also have an opportunity to practice interviewing skills, prepare presentations, and shadow attorneys on various projects. In addition, the intern will participate in the summer intern training program, which includes presentations by Prudential attorneys that highlight different areas of the business and the legal department. Of particular note, the intern will be paired with an attorney-mentor, who will provide guidance on projects.
Applicants must be: (1) law students with a disability; (2) ABA members; and (3) enrolled at an ABA-accredited law school. In addition, they must have: (1) successfully completed the first year of law school and be scheduled for graduation in spring 2016 (full-time students) or spring 2017 (part-time students) and (2) a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent. The ideal applicant will have financial or business-related experience or interest.
