The student and professor work together to determine logistics for taking tests when the student receives extended time and/or a reduced distraction room as accommodations. Some students test on a DRC laptop that has assistive technology installed, such as voice recognition software and screenreader software.
For these students, we will deliver a laptop to the prearranged site at the designated time, turn it on and ensure the assistive technology is working. Our staff will wait for 15 minutes beyond the start time. If the student is more than 15 minutes late, our staff will take the laptop and return to the DRC. The student must then contact their professor to reschedule the exam. Both our laptops and staff time are in high demand, and so we canâ€™t tie them up for an indeterminate amount of time.
Please email the exam, as well as logistical information (date, time and location for the test) to the DRC (email@example.com), at least 3 business days prior to the exam. We will load your exam on our laptop in an accessible format, so it’s ready for the student. If a digital version of the exam does not exist, you may send a paper copy to the DRC.
Students are to work with professors to determine a time and location for exams. As stated above, students who arrive at the testing site more than 15 minutes after the agreed-upon time will not have access to a DRC laptop. The student must call the professor to reschedule the exam.
