Disability Resource Center

Faculty Survey

For the first time, the Disability Resource Center at UALR will survey faculty; the survey will be conducted in September 2009 by the Survey Research Center, Institute of Government. Unlike the Student Surveys, which have been telephone-based, the Faculty Survey will be email-based. This is consistent with the IOG’s experience with surveying faculty for other projects. With the award money the Disability Resource Center won last year at the Assessment Expo, we purchased five $100 gift cards for Barnes and Noble that will be used as prize incentives for participation.

The focus on faculty is consistent with our paradigm shift where the focus is on the environment with which students interact, rather than just the implications of any given disability. The questions are related to the design of courses, and faculty’s attitudes about disability in general. We hope to show an improvement over time regarding the design of learning environments, and a resulting decrease in the need for individual disability-related accommodations on the part of students.

The survey results will be posted on this page as soon as they are available.
