Donaghey Scholars Advance to US Finals in Microsoft Imagine Cup

Donaghey Scholars Alex Crow and Zachary Lovin, along with fellow UALR students Kori Gills and Teresa Scaife, have advanced to the 11th Annual Microsoft Imagine Cup U.S. Finals. The team is one of only 13 in the nation that will compete in Silicon Valley on May 13, and if they are successful, will advance to the world competition in Russia this June.

The project focuses on using technology to aid the hearing impaired. Team Verbatim Signers, as they call themselves, designed an application that bridges the gap between the hearing and the deaf by using Microsoft’s Xbox Kinect to interpret and translate American Sign Language into both written and spoken text.
