Geology Club
The UALR Geology Club is a student-run organization that sponsors field trips and public lectures, organizes and participates in community outreach activities, participates in campus and community service activities, and generally seeks to increase awareness of and interest in the Earth Sciences on campus and in the surrounding community. UALR Geology Club lecture series
Talks are open to the public, and all are invited. Refreshments will be served at 4:15 pm outside the lecture hall.

James Battreal, a geologist with the Ground Water Section of the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission will give a talk titled “2008-09 Arkansas Natural Resources Commission Annual Ground Water Management and Protection Report.”

Chris Schenk, Project Chief with the U.S. Geological Survey in Denver, CO, will give a talk titled “The role of geology in USGS oil and gas assessments.”

Jamey Jones, UALR Earth Sciences Department, “Geology of the Earth’s moon.” This talk will also feature actual lunar rock and soil samples collected during the Apollo missions that are currently on loan from NASA.

UALR Geology Club rock kits
Each semester, the Geology Club assembles rock kits that it sells as a study aid to students enrolled in introductory Earth Sciences courses. For more information or to purchase a rock kit, contact the Earth Sciences department office.
