UALR Students Win Acxiom Programming Contest

Student teams representing UALR’s Computer Science Department finished first and fourth among 13 teams competing in the Acxiom Collegiate Programming Contest held March 12 at Hendrix College in Conway.

Keenan Gillispie of Bauxite, William Henderson of Texarkana, TX, and Ashley Morris of Marshall successfully solved six of the seven problems to win first place. The other UALR team – Andrew Hays of Little Rock and Harry Hull of Conway – solved five of the seven problems and finished fourth.

Dr. Keith Bush, assistant professor of computer science, mentored the students on both UALR teams.

The other Arkansas colleges represented were University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, Hendrix College, Ouachita Baptist University and the University of Central Arkansas. Teams from the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Science and the Arts also competed.
