General Purpose and Scope
Responsible for supporting and learning job duties of the Retail technology IT-programmers
Duties and Responsibilities
- Recreate and research issues with SIM (Inventory Manager) and POS (Point of Sale) reported by users in the field
- Execute test plans for enhancements and bug fixes
- Work with third-party vendors to recreate and retest issues
- Work with internal customers to troubleshoot and assist with known issues
- Run and develop ad hoc queries for reporting requests
- Perform routine system maintenance (e.g. user creation, disk space management, table purges, etc.)
- Collaborate with business partners, IT colleagues, and third-party vendors on process development, idea generation, requirements gathering, design, construction, testing and implementation
Minimum Job Entry Requirements
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate bachelor’s degree in computer science or information science
- Exposure to and understanding of relational database concepts
- Completion of at least one undergraduate course in a computer programming language
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and Access
- Interested in pursuing a long-term career as an IT practitioner
Desired Qualifications
- Practice writing SQL
- Practice writing Java code or with a similar object oriented computer language
- Practice navigating a command line OS interface, e.g. UNIX/Linux
