Corps of Engineers – Maintenance Technician – Paid Internship

The US Army Corps of Engineers will be posting a paid internship career opportunity.

Duty Station is: Mountain Home Project Office, Mountain Home, Arkansas; which serves all of Bull Shoals and Norfork Lakes.

Position Title is: Engineering Technician

Selected candidate will perform Inspection, Maintenance, and Repairs at various Campgrounds and their restrooms or other associated facilities and utilities. Work may be self-performed and/or involve contracting with appropriate trade specialists for further resolution. Other duties may include inspection and reporting of various contracted service work such as janitorial, mowing, and trash collection. Candidate may design, specify, estimate, and execute smaller in-house improvement or repair projects.

Applicant must be currently enrolled in an educational program leading to certification, licensure, and/or degree. And attend at a minimum the half-time equivalent.

Work schedules can be full-time or flexible to accommodate educational goals.

An Ideal Candidate would be enrolled in a 2 to 4-year college program such as construction management, maintenance technology, facilities management, or other related or trade-specific programs. Be self-motivated, detail-oriented, have good mechanical/electrical aptitude, be knowledgeable about tools, materials, and methods of construction/maintenance, have experience with CAD and/or GIS as well as Excel, Word, and other basic computer software. Be familiar with heavy equipment, and have or be willing to get a CDL license. While On-the Job training will be the primary method of development, candidate should be able to respond to basic trouble calls or work requests, independently investigate issues, and perform or see repairs through to successful resolution with minimal oversight.

The basic starting pay will be between $11.95 and $13.41 per hour depending on education status, with increasing non-competitive grade and step increase opportunities upon graduation, successful rating, and conversion to career status. The current maximum pay of this position at a career converted status with tenure is $24.16 per hour. Many other competitive benefits also apply.
