Description
The Master of Arts in Rehabilitation Teaching prepares students to work in private and public agencies providing instruction and guidance to enable individuals who are blind and visually impaired to confidently carry out their life activities. The program is offered through online courses which utilize video streaming as a major avenue to deliver information. Four of the courses have a required hands-on assessment workshop. The degree program includes direct clinical field experiences with practicum and internship requirements.

Admission Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- An overall undergraduate GPA of 2.75 (based on a 4.0) or a 3.0 in the last 60 hours or a masters degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education.
- A personally-written essay of approximately 500 words describing applicant’s background, experiences and goals related to rehabilitation teaching. The essay may be emailed to the program coordinator, Dr. Pat Smith at pbsmith@ualr.edu. The information should include the applicant’s name, address, telephone, email, and semester entering the program.
- A personal interview with the RT program coordinator. The interview may be conducted by telephone.
- Completed application to UALR’s Graduate School.
Graduation Requirements
Students are required to complete 39 hours of coursework plus one elective.
