Description
The Master of Science Degree in Information Quality (MSIQ) is designed to prepare students to pursue careers such as Data Quality Manager, Data Quality Analyst, Data Quality Consultant, and Data Quality System Developer, or to pursue doctoral-level graduate studies in preparation for information quality research and instructional roles. Established in 2006 by the UALR Donaghey College of Information Science and Systems Engineering in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Information Quality (MIT IQ) Program, the MSIQ program is dedicated to promoting state of the art curriculum in information quality education, contributing new ideas to the information quality knowledge base, and establishing information quality partnerships with the community, government, and industry.

Admission Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
- Cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Graduate Record Examination general test section (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores.
- Completion of any remedial course work that may be specified by the department. Students seeking regular admission to the program are expected to have completed (with a grade of B or better in each course) course work or have professional experience equivalent to the following UALR courses:
- IFSC 2300 Object-Oriented Software
- IFSC 3320 Database Concepts
- STAT 3352 Applied Statistics
Graduation Requirements
The MSIQ requires 27 hours of graduate course work with an additional six hours of either a thesis or project. The curriculum is consistent with relevant guidelines provided by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Association for Information Systems (AIS).

Accreditation
Currently, the Information Science Department is pursuing ABET accreditation for its undergraduate program in Information Science.
UALR is affiliated with the Electronic Campus of the Southern Regional Education Board, fully accredited by North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and designated as “doctoral/research intensive” by the Carnegie Foundation.
