Environmental Health & Safety

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) office oversees EHS requirements for the UALR campus in complying with federal, state, and local regulations including the National Fire Protection Association, the Arkansas Department of Labor, the Arkansas Department of Health, and the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. The EHS office also performs safety related duties included in the following categories:

  • Chemical Hygiene
  • Indoor Air Quality
  • Hazardous Material Management
  • Occupational Safety Programs and Training
  • Accident Investigation
  • Air and Water Permit Management
  • Radiation Safety

MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of the UALR Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) office to provide services which support work practices that promote a healthful and safe working and learning environment. Through collaborative efforts with campus departments, we strive to develop a culture of environmental, health, and safety responsibility that is a priority for all faculty, staff, students, and visitors.

GOALS

To achieve our mission, the EHS staff is committed to providing excellence through customer service and professional consultation that establishes lasting collaborative relationships and credibility. In so doing, we hope to provide an environment that is safe, conducive to learning, promotes research, and is in alignment with the University’s strategic goals.
