Mengjun XieDr. Mengjun Xie, associate professor of computer science, is known for his research and work in cyber security, network systems, data analytics, and social network analysis in bioinformatics.

Xie has an extensive body of published research, which has appeared in major journals and conferences. He has 51 peer-reviewed publications including 25 conference papers, 13 journal papers, five workshop papers, and eight posters, leaving an indelible mark on the research community. According to Google Scholars, his work has been cited 541 times by the authors from 35 different countries. Additionally, high-profile systems and security journals and conferences such as the Association for Computing Machinery and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers have cited him.

Xie also has a record of securing highly competitive grants. He secured a grant worth $289,662 from the National Science Foundation to create a new Research Experiences for Undergraduates site at UA Little Rock. This REU site is the first funded by the National Science Foundation at the university and is also one of the few REU sites nationwide dedicated to cyber security and forensics research. He also recently won another prestigious National Science Foundation grant worth $276,424 to develop a platform for cybersecurity competition and education. Other grants Xie has secured include a $12,200 grant from Amazon for cloud computing research. As co-principal investigator he was awarded $831,593 in scholarship funds for student recruitment and retention from the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Defense. In all, Xie has been awarded 10 external grants worth $1,062,746. Recently, he worked with Dr. Jing Zhang in Systems Engineering to produce a collaborative National Science Foundation proposal worth $300,000, currently under review.

Xie has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the College of William and Mary.
