James Carr
Making the construction industry safer
If Associate Professor James Carr’s construction management students aren’t safe on the job site, they won’t have a job for long. This knowledge has led Carr to create several videos and handbooks on safety for the industry. His work – both inside and outside the classroom – helps ensure greater safety on construction sites.
Through his work with the National Association of Home Builders, Carr is able to serve as an advocate for residential construction safety, but his public service to the industry goes much further. He seizes every opportunity to stress “green” building in his industry and share his knowledge of this important subject with UALR students as well as current workers in the construction business.
Carr earned his bachelor’s degree in education at Clarion State College in Pennsylvania and his master’s degree in construction science from the University of Oklahoma. He is a recipient of the Outstanding Educator Award from the Home Builders Institute and the Outstanding Service Award from the National Association of Home Builders Student Chapters group.
