Gail Hughes

Influencing generations to come

Dr. Gail Hughes works so diligently to share contemporary methodologies and help her students develop life-long learning, that she was invited to be among the first presenters when UALR’s Academy for Teaching and Learning Excellence launched its work with faculty. As an associate professor in the College of Education, Dr. Hughes is uniquely qualified to take on the task of improving future teachers.

Gail HughesDeveloping hybrid courses is a specialty for Dr. Hughes. She embraces technology, offering a diversity of learning options for her students. In this way, many different learning styles are celebrated. In fact, Dr. Hughes used what she learned about online instruction for a presentation during the 2008 UALR Assessment Expo that influenced the teaching of her peers as well as her students.

Dr. Hughes earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Henderson State University and went on to earn her master’s degree in mathematics there as well. She received her doctorate in educational psychology and research at the University of Memphis, and she regularly serves as methodologist on dissertation committees, guiding those students  to success in their pursuit of doctoral degrees.
