Faculty Excellence

2007 - University-level Winners

Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.
- Scott Adams

UALR faculty members have always made changes in the world. In the 19th year of the Faculty Excellence program, we honor the wave makers – those professors whose influence on our community is undeniable and lasting.

Learn more about our Nominees:

Twenty-one faculty members were recognized with a reception and dinner held May 4 in the Donaghey Student Center. A panel of seven judges selected the three top winners from among the college-level winners, and those three individuals were specially recognized during the event.

Dr. Hussain Al-Rizzo, associate professor of systems engineering in UALR’s Donaghey College of Information Science and Systems Engineering, won the $10,000 Ted and Virginia Bailey Foundation Faculty Excellence Award in Teaching at the University’s 19th Annual Faculty Excellence Awards ceremony.

Dr. Robert R. Ulmer, professor of speech communications in the College of Professional Studies, won the $5,000 University Faculty Excellence Award for Research, sponsored by PepsiAmericas.

Dr. Ashvin P. Vibhakar, professor of finance and director of the Institute of Economic Advancement in the College of Business, won the $5,000 University Faculty Excellence Award for Public Service sponsored by Bank of America.

To recognize excellence among faculty, the UALR Foundation Fund Board of Directors initiated the Faculty Excellence Awards in May 1989. Faculty members in each college nominate their peers to compete on the University level in public service, research, and teaching. Winners at this level receive a $1,000 award from the UALR Foundation Fund.
