Academic Adjustment Committee

A committee whose members are trained and knowledgeable about current disability law, in- cluding the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 504, Subpart E – Postsecondary Education, (and who do not object to the concept of course substitution on principle) should be established to handle substitu- tion requests on a case-by-case basis.
The committee shall be a standing subcommit- tee of the Faculty Senate, and shall consist of five (5) members appointed by the Faculty Senate presi- dent, to include a staff person from Disability Sup- port Services and a student representative from the Disability Support Services Advisory Council. Com- mittee members will serve for a period of 2 years (the staff person from Disability Support Services may continue to be the same staff person beyond this term because of the small number of staff). This committee was established by the Academic Adjust- ment Policy, which was approved by the UALR Faculty Senate on 3/15/96 and is printed in “Nondiscrimination Policies” in this Handbook.
