In our golden age of portable playlists and pacesetting tunes, it was shocking to discover that senior Derek Allen likes to make tracks across Burns Park music-free.

“I don’t want to have to carry an iPod with me or think about anything else when I’m running,” he said. It is focus like this that has kept the criminal justice major running both cross-country and track for UALR since 2006.When he’s not running, Allen likes to spend his time hanging out with teammates and annihilating adversaries on Halo. Maybe more than just a game for the Yoakum, Texas native, Allen will officially be an active duty Marine infantryman after graduation. Best of luck to this Trojan in all his future endeavors on and off the beaten path
