Construction projects in various stages currently dominate UALR’s landscape.

“It looks like [nothing is being done], but we are making progress,” Andrijana Vukovich, the director of planning and capital construction with UALR facilities management said.

The construction of the Student Services Center, to be built in Lot 1, will commence in January 2011 and is scheduled to be completed January 2012.

The Nanotechnology Center and Athletic Complex are both still in the bidding stages, with completion expected in the summer of 2011, according to Vukovich.

A lot of work takes place before the actual construction begins she explained, “There is a critical path that we must follow in order to stay on schedule.”

Another major construction project on campus is the student housing addition.  This project is said to be ahead of schedule. The housing addition will be two residence halls connected by a lobby and will add 350 beds to the current on-campus population of nearly 650.
