UALR seniors gathered in the Donaghey Student Center Oct. 13-14 for Fall Gradfest 2010.  The Office of Educational and Student Services sponsored the two-day event.

Representatives from various departments welcomed students in the lower concourse area outside of the bookstore to offer aid and direction to seniors graduating in December.

Senior Lois Hansberry won a gift basket donated by the Alumni Association, valued at $300, containing a cap and gown voucher, Alumni shirt and license plate frame, a personalized brick and an official UALR diploma frame.  Seniors  Chelsea Williams, Tanya Johnson, Sheresa Houser and Joseph Sipes were also awarded cap and gown vouchers.

The Office of Records and Registration encouraged students to stop by and verify the name that would be printed on their diplomas.  Just a few steps away, financial aid advisors were on hand to inform students of where to receive exit counseling and check the balance of any student loans.

Brenda Thomas, manager of the bookstore, took cap and gown and diploma frame orders inside the store both days.  She said that the number of orders seemed to correlate with the number of students that applied for graduation.

Balfour ran one of the busiest tables, with representatives taking orders for rings and commencement invitations.

Lindsey McKinley, senior marketing major, was able to order her invitations and cap and gown Thursday.  “I’ll probably be back for career services and networking events,” she said.  “I’m excited to move on to new adventures with a degree.”

Fall Commencement is scheduled for Dec. 16, at the Jack Stephens Center.
