Trojans Rachel Pierce and Nathalia Garay defeated Stanislava Harvanova and Whitney Hobson of the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith 8-4 in No. 3 doubles action on Friday, Jan. 21, in Fort Smith. It was UALR’s only doubles victory of the day.

The Trojans split 3-3 in singles matches with Yana Kakavkina defeating Cara Gilham 7-6, 6-4; Viktoriya Plyuta beating Abby Whittemore 7-6, 7-5; and Rebecca Van Den Houte shutting Hobson out 6-0, 6-0.

On Saturday, Jan. 22, the Trojans defeated Oral Roberts in Tulsa 5-1 with Veronique Luksich defeating Lina Semenova 6-4, 6-3. Pluyta fell in the first set 5-7 to Kristin Gray before coming back to dominate her 6-0, 6-1. Garay defeated Ekaterina Kondrashova 6-3, 6-4; Van Den Houte bested Rachel Scroggs 6-1, 6-1, and Andrea Steen-Rosten got a 6-1, 6-0 win over Brittney Smith.

Later in the day, the Trojans faced No. 32 Tulsa and were blanked 7-0 in singles and doubles play. The Trojans return home on Feb. 5 at 11:30 a.m. to face Central Arkansas at the Burns Park Tennis Complex in North Little Rock.
