Trojans compete at Tyson Invitational
The UALR track & field team had an impressive showing at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11 and 12. Nathan Carr was the top Trojan placing third in the men’s 800-meter run. Carr had a time of 1:53.53, just over a second behind first place Leoman Momoh of University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Trojan Kyle Houston followed with an 11th place finish at 1:55.79.
“I feel very good about us going into the conference [championships],” coach Milton Williams said.
Johnny Purvis took fifth place in the men’s 3,000-meter run at 8:27.74 (a personal record).
Casey Canady took seventh place in the men’s shot put with a distance of 14.72 meters.
Taron Dunn had a distance of 14.68 meters in the men’s triple jump giving him ninth place and 6.88 meters for the men’s long jump, placing him at 17th place.
Sanna Mustonen took 18th place in the women’s 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.75.
Demond Burns showed improved in the men’s 60-meter dash at 6.82 seconds (a personal record) placing 19th and 21.47 seconds in the men’s 200-meter dash placing 21st.
The Sun Belt Championships will be hosted by Arkansas State in Jonesboro on Feb. 27 and 28.
