The UALR women’s soccer team kicked off the spring semester by raising spirits and funds for its upcoming season.

On Saturday Feb. 12, the  team hosted its second annual 3-on-3 Tournament featuring 25 youth teams from around the area. During the one-day event, teams played a total of 54 games lasting 22 minutes each. The co-ed teams were split into four age groups – under-10, under-12, under-14, and high school. Along with the registration fee, the team sold “Trojan Soccer” apparel to help raise money for the upcoming season.

The team gained more than just a financial boost from the event.

“It’s really nice for us to be able to do things with the community,” Trojans’ soccer player Jacquelyn Paz said. “At a college level, sports can be really competitive so it’s a good reminder to see kids playing because they just really love soccer.

The tournament wasn’t just for kicks and giggles. At the end of the day, the champion teams from each age group went home with a medal.
