Cheap Thrills in Rock City – Got Kids?

Submitted by Melissa Ibbotson on March 18, 2011 – 11:42 amNo Comment

With summer approaching, you’re probably wondering what to do with your kids to keep them occupied and entertained, while staying within your budget of course .

For a few ideas, check out my previous column about water parks, and the one about the Little Rock Zoo. Now is the time to invest in those season passes, to get the best discounts.

Another really good option, especially for those with little kids, is The Wonder Place. Located across from the movie theater in Breckenridge Village, The Wonder Place features 5,700 square feet of kid-friendliness.

The Wonder Place offers an infant area, a water table (a favorite of most kids), a tree house with a slide and “rock wall,” a puppet and dress-up area, art room, and much more.

They also have an eating area with a healthy-option vending machine, and you can bring in snacks and drinks as well (but no fast food).

The best thing about The Wonder Place, especially during the summer, is that it’s all indoors. Not only does that keep you and your kids out of the heat, but it also makes it a bit easier to keep an eye on them without having to chase them around constantly.

Admission is $7 per person, age 1 or older (the second adult gets in free), but they have a free adult day once a month. You can also buy a 20-visit punch card for $100, which brings the cost down to $5 per visit. That price is for the entire day, so you can leave and come back as you please.

The Wonder Place is open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and they offer lots of fun events and activities all the time. For more information, visit www.thewonderplace.com.
