Track teams speed through UCA Relays

Track and field  brought home third place for the women and fifth place for the  men at the UCA Relays on Friday, April 1, and Saturday, April 2, in Conway, Ark. There were 12 teams competing.

Britney Allen won the women’s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.69.

Sanna Mustonen won the women’s 5K-run at 18:16.26. Erika LaCroix followed her in second at 18:37.30.

Nicole Smith won the women’s 3K-steeplechase with a time of 12:08.04. Mckenzie Bloom was right behind her at 12:25.28, nabbing second place.

Shannon Sullivan won the women’s 10K with a time of 38:38.85.

Rebekah Grissom took second in the women’s discus throw with 39.58 meters and second in the women’s shot put with 11.94m. Grissom also took fourth in the women’s hammer throw at 36.45m.

The team of Allen, Jessica Dyer, Brittany Jones, and Tachara Thomas took third in the women’s 4×400-meter relay at 4:03.40. The team of  Bloom, Mustonen, Marissa DeLaPaz, and Grace Rich took fifth at 4:06.94.

Jones took third in the women’s 100 hurdles at 15.88, with Allen following at 16.05, taking fourth.

DeLaPaz took third in the women’s 1,500 at 5:00.51.

Taron Dunn won the men’s long jump at 7.03m and second in the men’s triple jump at 14.57m.

Demond Burns won the men’s 400 at 47:43.

Kyle Houston took second in the men’s 800 at 1:54.32.

Felix Maritim took second in the men’s 3k-steeplechase at 9:33.83, and Barrett Kerth took fourth at 9:54.94.

Nathan Carr took second in the men’s 1,500 with a time of 3:54.90. Markus Pearson followed at 3:59.25, taking fourth.

For the men’s 4×400, the team of Carr, Houston, Burns, and Michael Proctor took third at 3:15.76.

Ben Alexander took fourth in the men’s 10K with a time of 35:35.59.

“It was opportunity to experiment with some things we don’t normally do, but the kids performed really well,” UALR track and field coach Milton Williams said. “We’re seeing steady progression.”
