Cheap Thrills in Rock City – Riverfest

Submitted by Melissa Ibbotson on April 23, 2011 – 11:35 amNo Comment

The best thing about spring and summer are all the festivals and events Little Rock offers. One such event is Riverfest.

Running from ┬áMay 27-29, this will be the event’s 34th year, and every time it just gets bigger and better. Featuring three music stages and three family stages, the line-up has something for everyone.

Headliners this year include Blue October, Nelly, Barenaked Ladies, Poison, REO Speedwagon, The Charlie Daniels Band and a whole lot more.

There are also plenty of activities and shows for kids, including dancers, the SugarFree Allstars and Troutfishing in America. And don’t forget about the Osbourne Family Fireworks, a Riverfest grand finale that keeps people talking for months.

Don’t forget to check out performances by the Disc Dogs A2Z, the United Freestyle Stunt Bike Team and the Flippenout Double Trampoline Show.

Aside from the music and other performances, Riverfest has a great variety of other fun things to do. Visit Market Row to pick up some great gifts from local vendors, create some masterpieces in the Artzone, or you can even enjoy the discounted admission to the Clinton Presidential Center. And don’t forget about the food.

Admission for the three-day event is typically $30, but a limited number of half-price tickets will be sold at area Walgreens until they run out. Children under 6 get in free with a paid adult admission.

If that price is still too much for you, then consider volunteering for a few hours at the event. You’ll get a pass for the weekend, as well as a Riverfest t-shirt. There are many different places volunteers are needed.
