Tennis ends season of extremes
UALR tennis ended a season of extremes on Thursday, April 21, as the 10-seeded Lady Trojans fell 4-0 to 7-seeded Denver in the first round of the SBC tournament in Mobile, Ala. The 2011 regular season was one of peaks and valleys as the team won eight matches in a row during the middle of season, only to lose eight in a row down the stretch.
The Trojans will lose the services of two seniors, Nathalia Garay and Rebecca Van Den Houte.
Van Den Houte was an all-conference selection in 2011. She had a team high in singles victories with 17 and posted a 15-5 combined record in doubles. She also joined with Veronique Luksich to post a 25-6 record in doubles over the last two seasons.
Garay finished her senior season with seven singles victories and a combined 8-15 record in doubles play.
UALR had gone since 2003 without an all-conference selection in tennis.
