Construction projects nearing completion
As construction continues on various projects across campus, completion deadlines are approaching swiftly, according to university officials.
“Construction is moving really well,” said Andrijana Vukovich, director of planning and capital construction. “It’s progressing and we are really pleased with the way it’s looking.”
Projects still in progress include the student services center, nanotechnology center and athletic complex.
The new West Residence Hall in the housing complex was recently completed in time for resident move-in day on Aug. 12. Landscaping around West Hall will be finished soon, according to Vukovich.
The student services center, which is located directly north of the Donaghey Student Center (DSC), is scheduled for completion by January of 2012 and will connect to the DSC by a glass skywalk. The building will house all student services offices in one location, including financial aid, admissions and others. Architect renderings of the student services building can be found in the DSC across from the Office of Campus Life.
Located between Dickinson Hall and the Earth Sciences building is the new Center for Integrative Nanotechnology Sciences (CINS) building. According to Vukovich, it will be completed around the middle of November of this year.
In an effort to promote intramural sports and allow more UALR teams to host events, the new intercollegiate athletic complex is scheduled to be finished by the end of September of this year. The complex is located south of Asher Avenue, adjacent to the Coleman Place apartments.
