Team ends season with two-game slide

The soccer team ended their season on a sour note, losing their last two matches. The Lady Trojans fell 2-0 to Denver on Sunday, Oct. 23, in the their final home match of the season. They went on the road for their final match and lost 4-0 to the Arkansas State Lady Red Wolves on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Their are seven seniors on the squad who played their final match for UALR; Rachael Maina, Kristin Semko, Taylor Gabbert, Jacquelyn Paz, Aubrey Tafoya, Christina Veasley and Megan Zollinger, were recognized for their contributions to the team prior to the match against Denver.

The Trojans had trouble getting their offense rolling against the Pioneers, taking only eight shots on goal for the match versus Denver’s 16. Semko and Maina led the Trojans with two shots on goal each.

Denver also led in corner kicks with 10 to UALR’s one.

Against ASU, the team found themselves in an early hole, falling behind 3-0 in the first half. ASU tacked on their final goal in the 83rd minute of the contest.

UALR was outshot 9-5 in the first period but fared better in the second, outshooting the Pioneers 10-8. Corner kicks were even at 4.
