Junior international business major Jeremy Martin won the judges over with his dance moves to win the title of the UALR Trojan.

Two students battled it out on Fisher Court Sept. 27 to win the helmet of the Trojan mascot.

During tryouts they learned a short cheer and showed off their dance moves to prove they could be the face of UALR.

Junior international business major Jeremy Martin walked away victorious.

Judges said Martin won them over with his robot dance moves.

“I’m not extremely athletic, but I wanted to get involved at UALR as much as I could,” Martin said.

Martin’s competitor, sophomore math major Alexis Penn, braved the dance floor with an abudance of energy, so judges asked Penn to be a Yell Squad captain.

The UALR Yell Squad promotes audience involvement and generates team spirit at Trojan basketball games.

“I tried out because I like to jump around and dance,” Penn said. “[As the mascot] I could be crazy without any judgement.”

As the new Trojan mascot, Martin is required to attend all basketball home games, interact with the crowd and develop the Trojan’s character.
